Instrumental Groups


Wind Symphony - The West Wind Symphony is at the center of the well-rounded band program at Lincoln-Way West. This ensemble rehearses daily and prepares for quarterly concerts as well as additional festivals and contests as their schedule allows. Students perform the highest of quality band literature from a variety of different eras and genres. Auditions are held in early spring every year. Students are encouraged to take private lessons and also participate in Solo and Ensemble contest.

Jazz Band - The West Jazz Band is a co-curricular ensemble that rehearses three days a week after school from November-May. Students rehearse and perform a variety of jazz genres and learn to improvise. The ensemble performs at concerts and jazz festivals around the Chicago area and the Midwest.

Pep Band - The West Pep Band is a co-curricular ensemble that performs at all home boys Varsity basketball games as well as additional games, pep rallies and events as requested. Membership is open to all students who play an instrument and rehearsals are held prior to each game.

Marching Warriors - The Marching Warriors is the most visible ensemble at Lincoln-Way West. The Marching Warriors perform at all home Varsity football games, community parades, as well as many other school events and functions. The band also learns and performs a competitive field show at Chicago, Midwest and Regional competitions annually. The award-winning ensemble is open to all instrumentalists at West as well as those who have an interest in dance and performing through the medium of Color Guard. Auditions are held in the spring and rehearsals begin in June with an annual mandatory Band Camp held the last week of July and first week of August. Rehearsals during the school year are after school and on weekends.
